Ingrid Breit is currently Deputy Head of Unit at the European Commission, DG Justice, Criminal Law. The unit ensures, inter alia, the consistency and homogeneity of criminal law policy under the provisions of the Lisbon Treaty, prepares legislative proposals in the field of substantive criminal law (PIF, crimes against the environment, violation of restrictive measures), and monitors their implementation.

Ingrid Breit previously worked with DG Competition, notably in the area of cartels. Prior to joining the European Commission, she worked as a réferendaire at the General Court of the European Union.

She holds a degree in law from the University in Vienna, a Master in European Law from the Catholic University of Leuven and a PhD from the University in Vienna.
